Trust and Believe

heartlight.org
I read the familiar lines I wrote two years ago. My heart scarred with pain for my son’s own heartache at that time was not feeling anymore hurt but instead, of gratitude and joy. As we walked in that valley two years ago, I remained trusting in the Lord. I had no words to part with him to lighten the load he carried except:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding…”

I knew then Who to go to knowing that He had rescued me many times with my own failures, His right Hand always quick to save me from drowning from the seas of trials as He did Peter when he stepped out of that boat being battered by gusty winds. I knew… It was only the Lord Jesus Who would never let go of His hold of my son’s hand during that moment when he was being hit by the winds of confusion, doubts, and fears.

After that winds of confusion to stop him from using his love of Graphic Design, His gift of love for art evident even since he was little, he worked even harder and remained trusting in the Lord, despite the uncertainties around him. My son with Proverbs 3:5 etched in his heart since he was of a young mind, was beginning to understand as he stepped out into adulthood the importance of having faith and living it out in his own journey.

My family and I weathered that storm. He finished his degree few months ago. It wasn’t easy. But we all knew, we needed to have faith, even little. Even as small as a mustard seed than none.

“Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.”

“Yes, come,” Jesus said.” (Matthew 14:28-29, NLT)

My son is about to step out of his boat of life. I know that the winds will not come only once but a life of duty for Christ will continue to weather many storms. However, I also know that not all storms are there to batter our boats of lives. Some in that scary appearances are there to expose what’s weak, to deal with them, to be able to surrender them all to Jesus as we step out of our comfort zones in order for us to serve the Master. Sometimes, in the process of sinking, one is being cleansed by the Living Water. Truly, in our weaknesses Jesus is our strength. He alone is the source of true Power. He hears our prayers no matter how strong the winds are or how bad the waves are crushing against the boat of life. He is always faithful. He doesn’t let us sink under the water when we have faith. When we trust…

In stormy events of life, Jesus is quick to reach out to save anyone who calls on Him.

The question is... "Are you willing to reach out to His hold and be saved?" Trust. Believe.

Lord, thank You for everything. For saving not only my son but also my husband and I. Thank You that You have provided all the means in order for him to continue to serve You with the talent You had given him. Lord, increase his faith as he steps out and use him as Your instrument for Your glory. May many people who will come his way be able to see Your light that he reflects. Protect him and guide him and give him discernment. Increase his faith at times of gusty winds and may he keep in his heart that You will never leave him nor forsake him. Thank You Lord for Who You are. Thank You for Your love and mercy. Lord, please bless those who are afflicted with severe storms. May they be able to see You in the waters and be able to trust and believe in You. You alone are our Savior. To those who are doubting, make their unbelief to belief. To those who are in confusion, give them order. To those who don't have faith, make their hearts see. To those who are afraid, give them courage. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

  1. "Sometimes in the process of sinking one is being cleansed by the Living Water." Oh how true this is. I too wish that a life lived for Jesus was an EASY life. I have not found that to be so. But one thing I know, My REDEEMER LIVES and He holds me in the palm of His hand, even on the days I don't feel Him at all. I too trust Him. Thank you for the beautiful post. I'm praying for you and your son. He calls us out upon the waters for a reason, and we are NOT alone. May Jesus bless you and yours!

  2. Thank you for the prayers sister Robbin and they're always very much appreciated. Right back at you. Because I know that prayers are our lifeline to God. It is indeed not easy to live for Christ but what profit for our souls! I'm so glad that even through blogging, we are able to pray for each other, to lift each other up and the more our sharing increases our faith. Blessings to you sister and thank you for leaving your footprints here today.

  3. Hi Rosel,
today I have managed to find time to read every post put up by bloggers on my sidebar. It was meant to be. As I read your post I am reminded of the picture that is on my smartphone. It is a picture of a sea that I had taken some years ago and I added the words 'Walk on water'. The story of walking on water in the scriptures has always spoken to me of keeping our eyes fixed upon Jesus and His Words spoken to us and not to look upon the tribulation that comes in our trials. He will bring us through every trial when we do this. I join together with you in prayer for your son and say 'Amen' to all that you have prayed.
God bless you as you and your family continue to trust.

  4. Hi sister Brenda. I always pray and ask the Lord to give me the strength to continue blogging not just for myself but to share Him with those who are lost in the sea. So, I know that maybe many pass by and don't leave comments (and that's ok with me)but it is my prayer that they will leave encouraged and know God's goodness. But how encouraging when blogger friends visit out of their own busyness and leave their footprints here at my place. I appreciate you taking your time and it means a lot. I like the meaning of the picture you have on your phone. That's the only way to finish sailing... To keep focused on Jesus. I had written a song long time ago about Him being the Beacon, providing light for those lost in the sea especially during stormy weather. Isn't it awesome to know that He did overcome the world? Thank you for praying with me. It's comforting to know that even in Spirit, He is in the midst when 2 or 3 gather. Glory be to God. God bless you and strengthen you sister and may you always remain strong in the Lord's mighty power.

  5. Hi, Rosel,
It is interesting to look back and see how the Lord rescues us in those deep waters of life when we call to Him and include Him in every concern. I asked for grace last Monday when I faced major surgery and the Lord took care of me in supernatural ways. I woke up in unbelievable pain. The angel nurse assigned to me helped me get it under control and when we switched from meds to Ibuprofen, my pain almost ceased. My body is responding well and I didn't have to go home with a catheter. Yay. I lost a little more blood than expected, so I rest a lot but I can sit without pain! Thank you for covering me with loving prayers. You comforted me so much with the comfort of our faithful Lord. I've been meditating on His names and feel so small as I think of all He is and His great love for all of us. I love you sister and ask God to bless your Easter as you worship Him with your lovely family.

  9. We know the Lord can look after us better than we can look after ourselves: sometime we falter in our faith but He never falters in His faithfulness!
