“Bad news, Rcubes,” uttered the charge nurse, “There’s no one to pull the meds for the evening and bedtime doses. Do you mind doing everything?”
We have this multi-million dollar machine called CIPS. It was bought by the county to aid the LVN’s in cutting the amount of time it takes them to pull all the thousands of medications [just those in pill form] whenever each shift prepares for the inmates’ medications. It wasn’t a part of the RN’s jobs. But long time ago, when this was new, there was no one around to help us out to pull the meds one night. By the grace of God, anxious as I was to mess up something, I just kept pushing buttons and for some reason, figured out and I was able to pull the meds that night for the morning and noon doses.
Ever since, I had been volunteering if there is no one to pull the meds for the morning and noon doses only. No other nurses except the charge nurses and a few that are knowledgeable with computers, know how to do this particular task.
“Oh no!” exclaimed the day charge nurse. “I’m so short of staff and I don’t even have anyone to pull the evening and bedtime doses!” she exclaimed in despair.
“Did our charge nurse tell you? Don’t worry Nurse K., I already pulled all the doses for today!”
“You did?” “Thank you so much!!!” as she took a deep breath and let a sigh of relief.
Many people are impressed with those who are powerful, rich, beautiful, famous or those with great achievements and successes. But we forget that this world’s standard is not the same as that of God’s. Instead, He searches for those who are simple, ordinary humans who have a hunger and passion to seek His face and obey whatever He asks of them.
“Instead, God deliberately chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose those who are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important, so that no one can ever boast in the presence of God.” ~ 1 Corinthians 1:27-29
Next time that you are faced with situations that you feel you are limited, never forget that the Spirit of the Lord in us is always encouraging each of us to put those thoughts aside that make us feel like quitting, those thoughts that make us feel powerless, those thoughts that make us feel that we are not capable of the tasks that He gives for His glory. That’s not how the heavenly Father sees us. He can turn the ordinary into “extra-ordinary”.
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t make decisions the way you do! People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at a person’s thoughts and intentions.” ~ 1 Samuel 16:7
