No Drifting Away

“IUB”…Intrauterine bleeding…That was the diagnosis that came back with this 40 something female inmate sitting on the chair in front of me, as I read her chart and treatment records that came from ER. She had missed her monthly periods for many months and started having abdominal pain. From the ultrasound, the doctors saw a tiny cyst inside her uterus.

“Drink lots of water, Ma’am,” I advised. “So you won’t get dehydrated. You were bleeding a lot earlier.”

“When will I see the doctor again?”

“Soon. You just need to be patient,” I reassured.

“Well, when is that?” she queried with an impatient tone.

“Ma’am, I’m sorry. When I told you “soon”, you need to trust me. Because here, we are not supposed to give you a specific time or hour or date. But when I say “soon”, it does happen. The reason you are not told is because of security purposes. I hope you understand,” I answered patiently.

“Okay. I know it’s true. But I am still having pain.” [She pointed to her lower abdominal area].

“I’m so sorry that you are still uncomfortable. Just be patient. You will be seen and I will do my best that it’s the soonest available time,” I added.

That’s the truth in the jail. Most inmates know that when they are told that the medical doctors will see them for follow-ups, that will occur. Except, having so many inmates who have gone to ER’s and other bad medical conditions, the doctors are always busy. Day to day, a list is generated for only a certain amount of patients. And the severity of their condition is assessed prior to being seen. The sicker they are, the higher they go up that list. They know that truth but they are not willing to wait. Some of them become disrespectful to staff, saying many bad things that are not necessary. Some fake their medical emergencies just to be seen right away. To their dismay. Because the nursing staff and the doctors would still be able to recognize the severity of their illnesses because of the symptoms that are manifested.

We, believers, have received that TRUTH. But living in this world, there are so many false teachings that surround us. It is a hard work to be able to be patient and to be able to pay careful attention to His Truth. It means fully listening to what His Word says. But the most important thing to do is to follow what He wants.

We all know Jesus is the truth as so many eyewitnesses had handed down this truth to us. We might have not seen the Doctor in the flesh but we know that we will see Him because of all the eyewitness accounts recorded in the Bible.

Long time ago, Jesus said this to Thomas: “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who haven’t seen me and believe anyway.” [John 20:29]

Our faith must always point to Christ. Be patient. That is the truth. For those who believe will see the Doctor. We don’t know when. But it will occur.

“So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.” -Hebrews 2:1

“What makes us think that we can escape if we are indifferent to this great salvation that was announced by the Lord Jesus himself? It was passed on to us by those who heard him speak, and God verified the message by signs and wonders and various miracles and by giving gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose to do so.” -Hebrews 2:3

  5. False teachers abound and the lack of discernment in the church today is the norm.

    James 1:5-8 (King James Version)

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

  6. I hope I never drift away from the Truth. Hope you are having a great day! Thanks again for the prayers for me and Madison. I was able to contact Dept. of Children Service and had an interview w/a case worker today. She wanted to talk to Madison, but she just woke up and was not very talkative. She told me that she will interview Madison's dad later this week. Hopefully this will put an end to the drama he has been causing for both of us.

  7. "Our faith must always point to Christ. Be patient. That is the truth. For those who believe will see the Doctor. We don’t know when. But it will occur."

That really is a great way of putting it. Love your words of wisdom as always!

  8. there is nowhere else to go...He alone holds the answers...He alone is the Truth. From someone who has believed and trusted in lies...how awesome it is to put my faith in the Truth. Thanks Rosel for this. Have a great week out there. Stay safe.

  9. Laughed when I read about the inmates "saying many bad things that are not necessary" - yeah I can imagine! Bless you for being patient and doing the right thing.

I'm with Sarah in that there is no one besides God to turn to. I'm so grateful that He lets me turn to Him.

  14. Hi Dear Sister,

I came by to say that I love you! As always I get touched deeply when I come here and read your writings and experiences.

As with Edie this caught my eye as well, "Our faith must always point to Christ. Be patient. That is the truth. For those who believe will see the Doctor. We don’t know when. But it will occur." So true in my life. God has taught me to be patient amidst our many trials.

    Love you so much,

  17. Dear Rosel,
This is another meaty post from you. I love the way you connect a Biblical truth to a real life incident that you encounter in your workplace.

You truly are a Florence Nightingale, bringing hope and light and truth to the people whose lives you touch.

Today's post is one truth we Christians need to hear and live by. False teachings, shallow faith... it is both a warning and a reminder.
May we not build our faith on shifting sands but rock!

God be given the glory for speaking through you.

    Love
    Lidj

  18. There were some false apostles at Corinth who were missing the law. Listen to what Paul says about them in 2 Corinthians 11:13-15, “Such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is not strange if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness.” That is a daring statement: Satan and his servants achieve some of their most destructive work in the church by becoming “servants of righteousness.” What kind of righteousness? The kind described in Romans 10:3, “Being ignorant of the righteousness that comes from God and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.” Satan and his demons specialize in taking the commandments of the law and alluring people in the church to make those commandments a basis of self-righteousness. And therefore Paul saw behind the legalistic teaching of the Judaizers an age-old demonic scheme to destroy genuine faith and with it the church. Small wonder that this letter bristles with Paul’s righteous indignation.

Do you see what this means now for us? Satan does not care if you try to keep the ten commandments, provided that you take the credit for keeping them. In fact, he will assist your moral resolve if you will do it that way. Satan does not mind if you come to church, or teach Sunday School, or preach, or work for the freeze, or lobby for a human life bill, or seek prayer in the schools—he’s all in favor of whatever your moral agenda is, provided you rely on yourself instead of the Spirit of Christ and take credit for it yourself instead of humbly giving all glory to God. So do not be unprepared. Our adversary has a clever scheme by which he aims to ruin us and the church.

And though this world with devils filled
    Should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed
His truth to triumph through us.

    The prince of darkness grim,
    We tremble not for him;
    His rage we can endure
    For, lo, his doom is sure;
one little word shall fell him.

An example of the word that can fell Satan in our lives is Galatians 4:3-7, “When we were children, we were slaves to the elemental spirits of the universe. But when the time had fully come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, ‘Abba! Father!’ So through God you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir.”

Do you see what that means? It means that when the appointed time came, God looked down on his own world under the dominion of Satan and said to his Son, “Prepare for the invasion. The artillery of the enemy will be heavy. In fact, before you get very far on the beach you will be killed. But I will raise you from the dead and the beachhead you established will spread until it invades every tongue and tribe and nation. And I will free town after town from slavery to demons and slavery to the law. And we will draw into our movement all those who trust in you, my Son, and we will send your Spirit to empower them and bring them to glory. And they will be my children and heirs of everything I have. Satan will be vanquished, all unbelievers will be banished to outer darkness, and our glory will fill the earth like the waters cover the sea.

  19. I have missed you Ike.
All of your words of wisdom, developed over a year, were summarily deleted, depriving future readers access to the wisdom within.

But here you are again.....like a homing device on truth. And I am grateful.
TRUTH can not be deleted by anyone.

As for the suffering of your wife, my own brother's wife has gone to Home with Christ just this week, for the same reasons as Carol. I am familiar with the crisis of separation, faith, and loneliness set upon your shoulders. For that reason, I say to you:

Ephesians 1: 15-23 WOW! Count on it.

Rosel made an attractive opening picture/verse:
    Colossians 2:17
"These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ"

There is no shadow possible in darkness.
    Shadows are produced in light.

In early morning, and late afternoon, our shadows cast a mighty appearance, as if we were all giant Sequoia trees walking about.

The shadows begin to diminish under the very strength that creates them: LIGHT.

By high noon, all shadows are under our feet.
The closer we draw to Jesus Christ, the closer we are to the Light, the Way, the Truth, and the mightiest shadow can not escape the leather of our shoe soles. His Presence diminishes all shadows to nothing.

    But people are deceived.
An angel of Light also cast shadows, intentionally to deceive you away from Truth, and into the dimension of deception.

In our present time, the angel of light has never had such easy access to communications, and his growth at decepetion is now exponential.
The counterfeit is trying to become the genuine.

But you have described the battle well.
The beachhead has indeed been established and spreading Truth.

"I saw satan fall from Heaven like a bolt of lightning", says our leader at the beachhead.
Indeed, fully 1/3 of all angels were so deceived, that they left heaven to follow the angel of light.

This is Good News even before the Good News of Jesus Christ.
    Why?
If 1/3 of the counterfeit have left, then 2/3 of all true angels are there on our side, to aid in battling the shadows of the angel of light.

Amazingly, both man and angels are deceived by the same angel of light. But only man is made in the image of God. And God is Truth.
Our images only need to conform to this.
    Emmanuel is already within us.

    Shine more truth Ike.
    It is never erased here.
Hugs to Carol from me too, but gently.
    She remains in my prayers.
We shall all meet one day; perhaps just inside the middle Eastern Gate of Heaven with all the fun people, eh?

  20. I really enjoyed this, we have no idea how long the wait will be but we KNOW we'll see Him.

  21. Oh, Rosel, John 20:29 has been on my Christmas card for years! It is such a POWERFUL verse & reminder. Waiting is so hard, isn't it? And being still? And even believers struggle with believing, don't we? But that is where the power is - in surrendering & BELIEVING God is who He says He is! Love you sweet friend!

  23. Hi Rosel,
A wonderful post, as always, with wonderful parallels to illustrate a great Biblical truth. John 20:29 is a wonderful verse, and my daughter has it pasted on her bedroom wall.
We have to be so careful these days, to adhere to God's Word, to be careful of those running around claiming extra-Biblical 'revelations,' from those busily trying to 'humanise' God and elevate man to godhood, with man as the focus of all, instead of God.
Like you said, we need to focus on the TRUTH, and what a blessing that God has given us this through His ageless Word.
