There Is No Mystery In Each Passing Seconds

Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. –Psalm 90:12 (NIV)

How often I wondered…how weird it was when in many occasions, I would happen to glance at the clock.

Either my wristwatch. The clock in the oven. In the microwave. The small clock on top of the fireplace. Even the clock on the bedside table… Or if I was driving in my car…

It would read:

3:33

2:22

5:55

4:44

Or even 1:11

My heart wanted to know…Was there a meaning to all of that? For I was one that never believed in coincidences.  I knew how time went fast. Each day.

Gaining more hours on my hands since being demoted at my workplace, it gave me more contentment to realize that pursuing life’s fancies was a waste. Rather, those things the eyes couldn’t see should be the things I should seek after. I knew…I couldn’t count the days it took to create both good and bad memories. Or all of those achievements and failures that occurred on particular days of my life. For none of those mattered.
I believe…each storm we learn to weather not only make us stronger in character…but also helps us be weaned from this place. Oh that…may God number my days to help me realize how short truly life is…
So, those numbers from the face of the clock perhaps were trying to tell me something anyway…

That there is really no mystery behind each hand of the clock…

So that I may think how I spent each minute of each day…

To help me count how often I noticed on the other hand, how good truly God is…

To fear Him…Seek Him in each passing seconds… To know Him and gain wisdom from Him…

To mourn the past where my flesh sinned…

To bring to the cross when I taint my soul and spirit each day...

And to rejoice the new “me” in Christ…

  3. I see those times often myself. So strange. I agree with your post though ... I want my time to be spent focusing on the One who deserves my time and attention. Doing the things He has called me to do.

    Many blessings to you!

    Love,
    Beth

  4. What a good reminder for each one of us! Time is short. We may not always realize this but it is. I don't want to waste the time I've been given. Thank you for reminding me.

    Blessings and love sis,

  5. I was thinking of you and stopped by to say hello. I hope you are well. Again, it has been so long since I have read any blogs, even yours. I am certain I have some catching up to do. I want you to know that today, the Lord has directed me back to you and placed you on my heart to pray for you. I do hope that all is well.

As for the numbers, our is 316. Of course this is directly related to the Lords love for us through the book of John. It seems that these numbers will come to me when I am venturing into a panic or a sadness. It is flashed at me from price tags in stores, on boxes, on doors, the clock and even license plates on the road. I do believe it is God's little reminder that we are not alone and that He is there.

    Be blessed my dear friend.

  6. I know a lot of people who have number mysteries...it has not happen to me except once...when my sister-n-law died . She died at 11:00 and when I returned home from the hospital the clock in the living room had stopped running at 11:00. There is a lot of things in this world we do not understand...someday we will \0/

  8. Me too like the header. Time seems to be flying incredibly fast. I want each moment to count not to simply rush through the day or my life. Hugs Rosel. Have a great long weekend.

  9. Oh, you have a new header... it's so special, dear Rosel. Just as your heart is, so perceptive, so discerning. Your heart is soft and tender to the gentle nudges of the Lord. I loved this post. Nothing is ever a coincidence in the economy of our heavenly Father. You have been an encouragement to me - your faith that has endured and persevered. God be given glory through you. WIll be in LA this November. WHo knows, our paths may cross, and I can have a chance to see you face to face.

    Much love

  10. I love this post. I relate to you because God is revealing to me to lighten up and think on eternal things and not get so hung up on all the drama of life. So you can see how ministered to I was here!

  11. I keep seeing 11:11...for 3 years now! All I know is 1 is the # for God in dream language...and I'm an avid dreamer. I never fail to thank Him for His enduring love and presence....every time it pops up!

    hugs
