I could only answer at the back of my mind. As I calmly
tried to be still when I heard our family dentist turned the drill on after he
made sure half of my lip was already numb.
“Raise your left hand if you have any problem then I will
stop it,” he explained.
“Are you okay so far?”
All I could do was answer with my nodding. Of course I was
okay. Pain-free at that moment for the removal of my old filling on one of my
teeth in the back.
But not my pocket…So I thought…
He wanted to avoid having me go through a root canal and as
a preventative treatment, he had me opt for a crown.
“You are so patient,” he kept talking as he adeptly worked
on removing the decayed part of my tooth.
“I wish all of my patients are like you,” he added.
“I am patient?” I echoed in my mind…
“I had to be…”
Because I didn’t want to make a false move and had him poke
something he wasn’t supposed to and had me bleeding somewhere…
But I reassured him. During my initial visit with him when
my due evaluation came up. That I was never afraid of the dentists…
(More of expenses maybe)…
“Okay…See you in 2 weeks,” he uttered as he threw away the
gloves he wore and washed his hands.
Trying to spend a minute with me before he
would start again with another patient next door. Already prepped with her bib
as the Dental Assistant was keeping her company.
I knew the treatment was well worth it. It would save me
more expenses and that my tooth, best of all would have a longer life. With the
arrival of that crown. The decayed tooth would be like new.
Oh how so like the Lord’s salvation. Not all men who go
under trials are the ones blessed. But those who learn to increase their
patience and faith as they stay in obedience to God. Those who know how to
avoid the decays of sins knowing how they bring death to their spirits, by God’s
grace. And so for them, one day, they will also earn that crown…The treasured
crown…Of life…
I will always trust that Jesus is there for me…going through
trials with me. He is faithful. And true…My Lord…My Savior…
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because,
having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord
has promised to those who love him.- James 1:12 (NIV)
Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict
training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a
crown that will last forever.- 1 Corinthians 9:25 (NIV)

ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous comparison! Yes isn't sin sweet, but then leaves a bitter taste in your mouth? I remember when I was getting my teeth cleaned, Jesus gave me an image that He was my dentist, so then I felt so much better! Haha Jesus looks nice in a dentist uniform! I now see a revelation to me that sometimes to get that stuff out, it's going to be painful, but the Lord has to clean that it out even if we are uncomfortable!
ReplyDeleteGod bless and hugs sister ♥
Thank God to be able to think of the Lords blessings and to lean on him when in a Dentist chair.... eek .:)
