Be Angry

I browsed at the State’s site for job openings for Correctional Nurses that could be near my home. I couldn’t imagine going back to the hospital because of my neck injury. I wasn’t disappointed. There were plenty of openings. But I questioned myself “Why?”

I shouldn’t look yet but wait for His perfect timing. I knew I worked so hard for many years, the moment He took me out of my comfort zone and blessed me with His strength to be in this dark place. The job wasn’t hard. It was always the people I worked with, that was the sole issue of having difficulties all around. Yet…I worked hard and respected everyone even if a person was known to be mean.

In working part time, I had learned to be contented. Yes, it was lesser income but the joy of having more quality time with my family was incomparable to any sum of money. The more time I had spent with my child, the more time I had to not only teach him, but also of myself in sharing His Word. I knew people noticed that…They were wondering why I had not been working many hours, working only 8 hours, 4 hours shorter than the rest did. They were wondering why I kept mum when it came to my own business. They wanted to know….

I told them…”Thanks be to God Who made my husband and I able to do this…” (“But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness. – 1 Timothy 6:11).

But they wouldn’t want to believe that.

Many years, I endured many unfair treatments so obvious. And what I’m facing now seemed to be the worst. (Yet, I knew it wasn't deep inside knowing His yoke is light). It had gone to the point that they were looking for that reason to “kick me out.”

I wanted to be angry. They were not listening to whatever I said. I knew that their reason had no basis. Some of them were not even there yet when I started working. They didn’t know me… Yet, in my anger, I remained respectful. Careful not to reflect words and actions that would not glorify God, because I knew that it was what He always wanted. But deep in my heart, I knew they were wrong with their accusations. And my trust never wavered with the One Who knew it all. The One Who knew my heart. The One Who brought me to the prison. And I knew, I was truly fighting with unseen enemies. But I wasn’t afraid because of Him. He donned His Armor when I met Him.

God warned us to be “angry” yet NOT TO SIN….and not to give the devil an opportunity…” (Ephesians 4:26-27)

I am angry…with all their wrong motives and false accusations. While I tried to respect them, consulting Him many times, I knew I needed to defend myself. No one can be above the law. For there is One Who is the Highest Authority watching everything that unfolds. Recording every words, every actions.

I would not go to their level. I would not speak the way they spoke. I would not do things the way they did things. But when my response hit them, it would give them no dignity nor satisfaction. I did not want the kind of anger they were brewing. I wanted the kind of anger that only comes from God. Righteous.

Righteous against unbelief. Righteous against the hardness of hearts. Righteous against hypocrisy. Righteous against false teaching….Not exploding. Always slowly provoked. Does not take pleasure in seeing people suffer from their wrong actions. Always under control…

Lord, may You be glorified in all of this. Please continue to guide me with Your wisdom and give me discernment. Thank you for picking me up whenever I fall. Thank You for holding me in Your arms and comforting me when I am feeling weak. Thank You for healing my wounds. Thank You for loving me unconditionally. May Your light shine and illuminate those dark areas I am in now. Lord, may all the evil deeds be exposed under Your light and I pray that so these people will come to know Your love and grace. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Friends, oh how the Lord had quickly granted an opportunity as I took my first step yesterday…The fight has not begun. But I trust in His wonderful promises because He is faithful…We are all under constant spiritual attacks. Please do not forget to pray for each other. I want to let you know my hubby and I pray for you all. And we thank you from our hearts for your love and prayers. God bless and may you all have a wonderful Thursday!!! Be strong in the Lord’s mighty power!

  1. Amen dear sis, the battle is ours. Standing in prayer with you, and for you. I love you.

  2. Rosel,
You are a light shining in the darkness. And you have done well so far, trusting not in your own strength but in the strength of the One who alone is truly strong.

My prayer for you is that you will live life "with a vengeance" - what I mean by that is that these people who are now trying to destroy you will never be able to succeed in their plans. I pray that God Himself will give you the right words to say when the time comes for you to speak up. Live life with a vengeance... with a hidden strength and inner motivation to live beyond the junk pile that they are trying to dump on you! Soar high... Soar above the false accusations... Soar close to the heart of the One who wears the Victor's crown!

  3. Your strength, courage, faith and patience inspires me. The Lord is on Your side. He will be your shield against all the works of the enemy. Keeping you in prayers.

  4. It takes tremendous strength to stand strong in the midst of an assault. I think of the Lord's many silences before His accusers, and Stephen's too.

We sure do need one another, don't we? There's never a day or an occasion when encouragement is not necessary. May we always be lavish - - as He is lavish - - to pour it into each other's lives.

Be encouraged, my friend. Your testimony DOES bring glory and honor to the Lord.

  5. I am drawn to your post daily- as I have gone thru many dark days recently-- I pray your prayer with you -- and am standing firm in HIS promise!!

  6. I love you sister...Always standing and kneeling beside you with so many others in this battle.

His light shines down upon you and all around you as you walk through the darkness in this storm and you will always be victorious because of Jesus no matter what the outcome.

Stand strong, be alert, stay focused on Him as you surely are now. He orchestrates everything and knows the final outcome. Yes, TRUST Him completely in the storm (and I know that you do dear sweet surely do.)

Thank you with all of my heart for your continued encouragement and strength to me through your battle.

You are an amazing woman of God.

  7. Amen sister, my prayers are with you and your strength comes from God.

God bless you and stand strong sweetie!!!

  8. As always Rosel you display power and strength. blessings.

  9. A dear friend of mine is going through a similar trial. She is standing up for what is right in the strength of the Lord. I pray for you. God's will be done, His kingdom come on earth as it is in Heaven.

  10. Rosel, I pray for God to open a door and place you where you can continue to be a testimony for Him.

  11. He's got a plan, Sis. And it's not to bring you any harm but good. Let's praise Him now for we know He will bring it to pass. Praying your prayer with you. (and having coffee and cupcakes too in the Spirit!)

    Smooches & hugs,

  12. I continue to pray for you. May you continue to experience His peace, love and power. May those who try to come against you, be turned toward God instead.

  13. Rosel, I am praying your prayer with you. I know that the Lord will open up doors of opportuities for you to glorify Him. Keep your focus on Jesus and the pains of this world will fade away. God bless you and your blog ministry. Lloyd

  15. For you Rosel..Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall injure you.. Luke 10:19 Praise the Lord!

  16. This is a timely message for me today. I was blind-sided. I am angry and frustrated - but your message has steered me in the right direction in how to handle this emotionally. Thank you for sharing your challenges and how you are handling these challenges! You are in my prayers:) We will overcome all things through Christ Jesus!

  17. You are handling this with such integrity. I'm not sure I would be as mature and gentle. You are such a light for Jesus!

The Attacker (5/15/09)

The sun was just peeking from the Eastern skies. Ephesians 6:12 [37 kb]

Out in the prison’s yard, some huge Sheriff’s buses were illuminated by the soft glow coming from the lights all over from the tall lamp posts. Their engines were turned on, warming up, before the buses would take the inmates to the different courts where they would have their trials.

Orange-uniformed men were lined up in pairs, joined together with handcuffs and chained, forming a long line. They already had their breakfast and had their morning medications prior to going to courts. Some were fidgeting, as they waited to board those buses.

All of a sudden, all hell broke loose! Two men were engaged in a fight, using weapons they made secretly for a while. Deputies called for help on the radio, both for custody back-up and medical staff, as well.

When the air was cleared and the other inmates were secured, one man was down on the floor. He sustained multiple gashes but two of them were deep. One cut was vertically etched from his left ear going down to the jaw line. The other dangerous cut was horizontal on his left neck, close to the jugular vein. Pool of blood dripped all over the floor. Holding his bleeding neck, he was pointing at the other inmate few feet away, being guarded by the other deputies.

The other man being accused was not hurt. There were no lacerations nor any other signs of trauma. He was obviously very agitated as he was being questioned by those deputies, while the medical staff started treating the other man on the floor. They cleaned the wounds and controlled the bleeding. That man was sent to the nearby hospital.

When the investigation was finalized, it turned out to be that the “downed man who was accusing the other inmate” was the attacker and the other one who didn’t have injury was the one attacked. The deputies found out that it was the second attempt to attack the unhurt man. Both attacks on him failed. He was well-prepared after the first attempt on him, that when the second attempt was done, he was able to defend himseld and ended up injuring his attacker severely.

We also have an “accuser of the brethren.” Satan and his army of demons are the enemies of God and of everything good.

“Because God’s children are human beings – made of flesh and blood – Jesus also became flesh and blood by being born in human form. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the Devil, who had the power of death.” –Hebrews 2:14

Because of what Jesus had done [dying on the cross], we, who live in constant fear of death shouldn’t be afraid anymore. Jesus had freed us from that fear so we can live for Him. When we belong to God, we know that death is only the portal that leads into “eternal life”. [“Thank You Lord!].

Paul warned us, too that we also battle against the evil forces of Satan, who is a vicious fighter. But to be able to withstand their attacks, we must depend on God’s strength and use every piece of His armor. We face an army whose goal is to defeat Christ’s church. When we believe in Christ, they become our enemies. They will try any device to turn us away from the Lord.

Fear not! For God has provided His supernatural power to defeat Satan and his army, through His Holy Spirit within us. So, arm yourselves with God’s armor.

Let us be strong in the Lord's mighty power. Let's put on His whole armor to resist the enemy's attacks: put on the sturdy belt of truth and the body armor of God's righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News, so that we are well-prepared. We will need faith in every battle as our shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed by Satan and his army. Let us put on salvation as our helmet, not forgetting the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Let's pray at all times, on every occasion in the power of the Holy Spirit. We must stay alert and be persistent in our prayers for all Christians everywhere. [Ephesians 6:10-18].
