I Refuse

“No! I’d rather not get my insulin because I know I’m gonna’ crash by noon!” uttered a female inmate, whose walks were aided with a cane she held with her right hand.

“Ma’am, you have the right to refuse. But I want to make sure that you understand the possible consequences if you don’t get your insulin. Your blood sugar is okay at this time. Because the insulin is helping you. But if you refuse and then, eat your breakfast, your sugar level will go higher,” I informed her.

“No! It’s okay. I know myself. I know it will go down,” she insisted.

Pulling a refusal form of treatment, I wrote the necessary information on the “fill-in-the-blanks” part of it, as I continued to speak with her:

“If you think that you always crash by noon, how come you don’t tell the deputy in your unit? Because they’re good at sending you down here so we can always check your blood sugar or one of us can even go to your unit if you feel like your sugar level is low,” I sort of persuaded her knowing the risks are greater than her thinking that she was saving herself.

“Our doctor has this plan of giving you this amount of insulin. If your sugar level is way high or low, they do make adjustments as they review your records, time after time,” I added.

She just smiled. Taking the pen I offered, she marked that refusal form with her signature, the date and the time. I wrote the rest: of the reason why she refused and that she was informed and aware of the possible consequences.

Hobbling with her cane, she disappeared from my sight as she was led out to the Female side of the Clinic, back to their units. Together with other female diabetics. I would see her again. I wasn’t sure if she would ever change her mind.

Just wondering what the Lord is telling you in relation to this story, my friends?

This is what came to my mind: God has devised a plan, too for all humanity. He sent Jesus, His Son, to pay for our sins. His plan of salvation was accomplished when Jesus died on the cross for you and me. Yes, we’ve heard about His plan. Yet, He is giving us all the choice. We can either choose to accept His offer of salvation or we can choose to refuse and ignore it.

Knowing that Jesus died on the cross to save us from sins is not enough. We need to receive Jesus by faith, as an act of our will.

“For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. As the Scripture tell us, “Anyone who believes in him will not be disappointed.” - Romans 10:9-11

And when we refuse, the destination is not a desirable place to be: apart from God. The place called “hell”. So, would you rather accept or refuse “Jesus Christ”? Hell is real.

“And all who believe in God’s Son have eternal life. Those who don’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life, but the wrath of God remains upon them.” -John 3:36

“That is the way it will be at the end of the world. The angels will come and separate the wicked people from the godly, throwing the wicked into the fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” - Matthew 13:49,50

“And death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death - the lake of fire. And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.” - Revelation 20:14,15

  2. Good personal story and follow up presentation of
    The Gospel.

    I pray that any unsaved person reading this blog will be convicted of their sin and turn (repent) toward God, believe His plan of salvation and be saved.
    In Jesus Name Amen!

  5. My mom injected insulin needles twice a day all her life into herself.....until she could not. Then my siblings and I did it for her.

    The first time was the worst; I hated the thought I would hurt mom. I slowly approached with the needle.

    "Don't play with it; SHOVE it IN!" she commanded. "It hurts if you wait or go slowly so plunge it in now".
    I did. Hard and fast.
    The insulin was plunged inside her body and she lived to age 87. HER mom had the same hassle (diabetes) but died at age 41.
    She did not partake of insulin.

    Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.
    ~~~John 6:53-56
    There are conditions attached to life.
    There are conditions attached to eternal life too.
    We must partake to extend the body.
    We must also partake to extend the soul.... eternally.
    The spirit will go on forever; the destination is one of two places. We know this.
    Yet, we hesitate to plunge, fast, and pain free, into eternal life in heaven.
    Listen to my mom for directions.
    She now resides in her mansion...prepared for her by her Savior.
    And you???
  7. These days so many want to tip toe around the reality of hell but God spoke of it a lot in the Bible to make us aware of the direction we are headed. Great stuff as usual Rosel.
    Much love!
  11. I just read that scripture yesterday. It is a heavy one! It's all too easy to coast along, thinking you're doing okay, but it's sobering to read that scripture and remember to work out your salvation with fear and trembling!
  13. Rosel,
    Again each and every post you share has a great message within them. I love this one because something as simple as taking medication is much like the grace God offers with His salvation, they are both needed but can't be forced yet they both will do us a world of good if we merely accept them.
  15. Heal or Hell ... both of them hinge on how we respond to Jesus. Having to admit our need for a savior can be a sore needle for us to take, but it is the one that saves. Good post.
  16. Thank you for sharing this.
    Sometimes it's as Edie here said, we (Christians) tip toe around the subject of hell but the Bible has a lot to say about it. It also says that God is willing that none should perish but that all should have everlasting life. I sure don't want to think of anyone I know spending eternity in hell.
  17. How does a totally depraved sinner choose to accept Christ when his/her nature is sin? Left to oneself....none of us would "choose" Christ.
    It takes more power of God to raise one dead sinner to life... than all the power of God in creation. Salvation is all about Him.
  18. The consequences are horrific if we refuse salvation. Thank you for making them known today.
  21. Powerful word beckoning those who do not know HIM! His light in you is shining brightly!
    I pray you had a wonderful evening at work. I think about you on the weekends and send prayers on your behalf. What a ministry you have behind those walls closed to many of us. I know HE is using you far beyond what you see. I am confident of that. Your heart is evident in your posts and your prayers.
    I also thank you for your prayers, encouragement, support, and love. I am truly blessed to call you friend.
    Hugs, andrea
