Bad Can Be Good

Have you guys seen this video? Before I transferred to working in a prison facility, a lot of former co-workers from the hospital mostly had negative remarks of why I shouldn't go there. The number one reason was it was not a safe place to be.

But what would I do if the Lord was bringing me here? I would rather trust the One Who knew what was best for me at that time. And He would be my Protector!

Turned out to be, I even felt safer working in that environment.

There are many deputies who would be there in a heartbeat if something goes wrong. And of all the impossible.....there are those times, when some inmates themselves, step in to protect the staff....

From the moment I started working there, I knew that if I wanted to be respected, you had to treat everyone with respect..."You reap what you sow..." [Galatians 6:7].

[Please silence my playlist before watching]...

A new broom sweeps clean.

We may change our methods but we don't change the basic principles.

If you're not changed, you don't have Jesus, because He changes people! No matter how good you are, He'll make you better!

Lord help me to change the things that need to be changed, & not to change the things that don't need to be changed, & especially Lord, help me to know the difference!

Just because we did it that way yesterday, doesn't mean we have to do it that way today! If you can find some easier, quicker, shorter, better, faster way to do it, do it!

All changes are difficult & sometimes costly, but if they're good changes, in the long run they pay off!

[Quotes from Word of Love]

  1. Praise God for working in the hearts of these men.

  2. WOW! Thank God they came to the rescue of that officer AND I'm praying for GOD to touch and SAVE the souls of those men so that the good they did in this video WILL transfer into all aspects of their lives for the glory of God.

I also pray for Salvation and deliverance for the man who was trying to kill the officer.

Thank you for sharing your message as well Rosel. You are such a minister for the LORD. Love you.

  3. There is no safe place except under His wing of protection. Sometimes we feel falsely secure...if we live in a nice neighborhood or go to a certain school we feel like we can not be touched by evil. That is completely false. You have found, Friend, what the Bible teaches as truth. The safest place to be is in the will of God. Where ever that is for you. Thank you for a great post.

  4. Gosh Rosel,

this is so troubling! and yet, so good at the same time! To see these men come to the rescue of this man is awesome. I pray for all of these men and others like them. For the Spirit of the Lord to come to them and be received and accepted!

Bless you Rosel for your heart for ALL of Gods children! You are such a blessing to all of us and to them!

    I love you my friend

  5. A touching story. Where ever God sends you He will also protect you. This touches my heart as I know several young people that are behind bars that were raised in a Christian enviroment. I write to a couple of them.

  6. It is always such a blessing to see God bring good from the bad. What a powerful witness of the favor of God upon this man. How He protected him, while administering His grace, in a Mighty work, by using these inmates for good. This is the kind of thing that people watch, and see God's hand in undeniable ways. Imagine the man who was attacked, and saved by these inmates! I would love to hear his testimony of what he experienced as God spared him. Thank you for sharing! I pray for God's favor upon you, and His powerful hedge around you!

  7. Rosel,

This is just a classic example of showing the mighty power of God is present everywhere. I am thankful everyday for what you do, the lives of the people you touch and for God's prevailing protection for you and your family!

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat

  8. Rosel,
I am so blessed that our paths have crossed. Your godly insight into a "world" most of us don't see is so touching. I thank God that He has you where you are and anoints you with such compassion and Divine discernment and Holy Ghost "grit". Keep on my sister, keep on!! Glory to God!

    Sweet Blessings!

  9. Thank you to all of you who came here and blessed me with your encouraging comments. Very busy here today but I just want to let you all know that your footprints here are all appreciated...God bless you all.

  10. That really takes me back. I used to be a dispatcher at the Sheriff Dept, and our center was in the same building as the jail. We had cameras on many jail areas.

This video is so heart gripping, made me want to shout! Here are all these inmates with beautiful hearts. Makes me wish they could all be released, but I guess that wouldn't be justice, eh?

Another thought provoking post to bless my day...

  11. love others with the grace that we have been treat others with the grace that we have been see beyond the label; the crime; the number and to see the person - that is when hearts will be touched and lives can begin to change.

If it can be done in the harshest of places, can it not only be done in our neighborhoods and workplaces?

  12. I am so glad for your witness. You listen to God and go where He says and not what men try to sway you to do. You are strong in Him and I bet there is so much happening in that prison where you shine bright that we don't even know about.

I love you, dear girlfriend. You make me laugh so hard when you leave comments for me. Love your delightful humor. A ministry to me right now, for sure!

  13. I think the speaker on the video made a significant point that when a guard is consistently good to the inmates, they will look after him. I've heard this more than once from prison guards, and definitely seen it in my work.

You are so right here that real goodness comes from God and the changes He makes in us.

I also really appreciated the way Lisa points out that when it's all said and done, the only really safe place is with God.

  14. OH, wow - what an eye opening post/video here! I am so thankful that God hides us in the shadow of His wings!

THanks for the prayers you lifted up for my sweet granddaughter Mercie.

  15. Changes - hmmm. I fight them, resist them but in His gentleness He brings me to the place I need to go - and amazingly -it's the best....
Stay safe out there RCUBE. His hand is on you my bloggy buddy. Sarah

  16. What a wonderful reminder that we do not trust in chariots, or horses, but the name of the Lord our God, who can provide protection from the most unlikely places.

    Blessings friend,
    Thank you for this!

  17. Rosel, I pray for you and your work. You are a great blessing to all those you come in contact with. Have a great day my friend. Audrey

  18. Rosel I am so impressed with the God in you! :)

  19. WoW! The mission that God has given you is so very powerful. Appreciate you sharing your stories. Blessings and hugs around...

  20. Wow that was incredible. Your posts always amaze me Rosel. You are a blessing!!

  21. Ezekiel 36:25-27 (note the personal pronoun "I")..."Then "I" will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; "I" will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from your idols. Moreover, "I" will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and "I" will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. "I" will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances."
Do you see any doubt in these words. It's all about Him.

  22. Wow, I'm so glad that was caught on film. I have no doubt that those men would fight for you Rosel. You are so good and kind to them all. Huge angels are surrounding you too.

The Attacker (5/15/09)

The sun was just peeking from the Eastern skies. Ephesians 6:12 [37 kb]

Out in the prison’s yard, some huge Sheriff’s buses were illuminated by the soft glow coming from the lights all over from the tall lamp posts. Their engines were turned on, warming up, before the buses would take the inmates to the different courts where they would have their trials.

Orange-uniformed men were lined up in pairs, joined together with handcuffs and chained, forming a long line. They already had their breakfast and had their morning medications prior to going to courts. Some were fidgeting, as they waited to board those buses.

All of a sudden, all hell broke loose! Two men were engaged in a fight, using weapons they made secretly for a while. Deputies called for help on the radio, both for custody back-up and medical staff, as well.

When the air was cleared and the other inmates were secured, one man was down on the floor. He sustained multiple gashes but two of them were deep. One cut was vertically etched from his left ear going down to the jaw line. The other dangerous cut was horizontal on his left neck, close to the jugular vein. Pool of blood dripped all over the floor. Holding his bleeding neck, he was pointing at the other inmate few feet away, being guarded by the other deputies.

The other man being accused was not hurt. There were no lacerations nor any other signs of trauma. He was obviously very agitated as he was being questioned by those deputies, while the medical staff started treating the other man on the floor. They cleaned the wounds and controlled the bleeding. That man was sent to the nearby hospital.

When the investigation was finalized, it turned out to be that the “downed man who was accusing the other inmate” was the attacker and the other one who didn’t have injury was the one attacked. The deputies found out that it was the second attempt to attack the unhurt man. Both attacks on him failed. He was well-prepared after the first attempt on him, that when the second attempt was done, he was able to defend himseld and ended up injuring his attacker severely.

We also have an “accuser of the brethren.” Satan and his army of demons are the enemies of God and of everything good.

“Because God’s children are human beings – made of flesh and blood – Jesus also became flesh and blood by being born in human form. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the Devil, who had the power of death.” –Hebrews 2:14

Because of what Jesus had done [dying on the cross], we, who live in constant fear of death shouldn’t be afraid anymore. Jesus had freed us from that fear so we can live for Him. When we belong to God, we know that death is only the portal that leads into “eternal life”. [“Thank You Lord!].

Paul warned us, too that we also battle against the evil forces of Satan, who is a vicious fighter. But to be able to withstand their attacks, we must depend on God’s strength and use every piece of His armor. We face an army whose goal is to defeat Christ’s church. When we believe in Christ, they become our enemies. They will try any device to turn us away from the Lord.

Fear not! For God has provided His supernatural power to defeat Satan and his army, through His Holy Spirit within us. So, arm yourselves with God’s armor.

Let us be strong in the Lord's mighty power. Let's put on His whole armor to resist the enemy's attacks: put on the sturdy belt of truth and the body armor of God's righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News, so that we are well-prepared. We will need faith in every battle as our shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed by Satan and his army. Let us put on salvation as our helmet, not forgetting the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Let's pray at all times, on every occasion in the power of the Holy Spirit. We must stay alert and be persistent in our prayers for all Christians everywhere. [Ephesians 6:10-18].
