Who's The Prisoner Now?

There he was, cramped up in a tiny, dark cell
Hiding his face with hands, drops of tears fell
Tracing back the memories that put him behind these bars
Tough as he looked before, his pride now starting to melt away

Hopelessness wrapped him, there was no doubt!
Shadow of fear that lurked, not sure of what would happen
Sleepless night that had seem to begin for him
As he watched his back, while others stared and were observing him

A tiny light coming from a small window caught his eyes
It was a little glimpse of hope, to see freedom which was outside
As more tears had fallen, he felt a stab of pain or two in his heart
He bowed his head and softly whispered from his broken heart:

“Dear God in heaven, I don’t know what I have done
I thought I can do everything and I don’t need you in my life
I never believed in You, because I was busy with my own desires
I just killed someone, aside from other bad things I committed with my own hands"

"God, whether You’re there or not, I have noone to talk to, You see
I just want to say “forgive me for my sins, Jesus, I’m really, really sorry”
“Jesus, please help me, and please save me if You can hear me!”
Not sure if his plea was heard from heaven, but his worries started being lifted from his shoulder

The weary man with the orange suit like everyone else climbed up on his tiny bed
Covered himself with a brown blanket, and felt the cold on his back
Closed his eyes, puffy from all the tears shelled
He didn’t know he just received “freedom” when he repented and opened his heart to Jesus

None of our righteous works will get us to heaven
For the Bible says they're filthy as "rags"
Whether we do good or bad, it's only through Jesus
When we make our relationship right with God

God sent His only Son to be with us and Jesus paid for the price
Yes, He suffered, was nailed and died on the cross
You must believe that for our sins, He was the ultimate sacrifice
If you have no way out, approach Him with a contrite spirit and a broken heart

The prisoner's mind began to wander, oh how he longed for the good things outside
Freedom to him meant not being behind those metal bars and tiny cell for the rest of his life
But he wasn't aware of this fact: That many people enjoying their lives outside are still prisoners
And he had gained eternal life and freedom from sins through the blood of the Lamb

Romans 10:8,9 -"But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Psalm 98:2 -"The LORD has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations."

Psalm 51:7 -"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise."

John 14:6 -"Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Ephesians 2:4-9 -"But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

  1. Oh my, my, my, my, my. What an awesome post this is Rosel. I could feel his pain, his agony, but despite where he was, he turned to Him and asked for forgiveness no matter how bad the crime and He heard every word. What an awesome God we have. I love Ephesians 2:4-9. Thank you Jesus.

Thank you my friend for such a rich post.

    Love you,

  2. Hi sis A-belle! Thanks for coming by. Every time I go to work, I feel sadness when I start wondering if the other drivers travelling are saved yet? Or my coworkers, how many of them know Jesus? Or the inmates?
This morning, my heart was really, really sad. I didn't know what to blog and the Lord gave it to my mind, because of prison ministries, a lot of inmates are actually enjoying freedom better than those that are not incarcerated. So, I pictured a sad, broken man in his cell, and you know where it led...But glory to God for this...He soothed my sad heart with the joy of knowing that we really enjoy freedom in His Holy Name! God bless you. Love to you.

  4. Rosel,

Great post once again!! I love how eloquently you write and put us in the place of a man now forgiven of his sins, and now no longer homeless but hopeful of a life eternally!

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat

P.S. Thanks for adding to my grilled cheese analogy! Loved the warm heart :)

  5. I love this story because we are all prisoners of something until Jesus sets us free. I felt like the man in the orange suit yesterday. I can feel those powerful prayers of yours though and I'm on my way.

Dear one, how I admire your heart for the body of Christ and as far as the ones that are not believing yet, why I expect you will powerfully pray them in!!!!

Thank you for your wonderful writing and keen ideas.

    Your sis,
    Mary

  6. Hello sister Denise. I appreciate that you always come and encourage me with your visits. You will never know how blessed I am, with you visiting me or me, visiting your site. Love you back!

Sister Kat, how are you? I'm glad that you can relate with my post. I always ask the Lord to always help me out, He has to...because it's about Him :)

Hey! What's a grilled cheese without the "cheese?" And that's how you are, with "warm heart", always speaking from the heart--so your blog title really applies:"Heart2Heart" God bless.

Sister Mary, yes, we are all slaves whose freedom was bought by the blood of our Savior. Keeping you in my prayers, just want you to know, whether you're requesting or not. We must never cease. The more active we get working for the Lord, the more active the enemies try to hinder that work. But we're already "victorious" in Jesus' Holy Name! Amen!

Love to you all and thanks for journeying with me. God bless!

  9. Thanks bro. Billy, but it's the Lord Who changes our hearts so, I'll give the thanks back to Him. Your posts bless me as well every time.

Sister Cynthia, I've learned so much working in this environment and I continue to do so. I see a lot of suffering souls that truly need the Lord's grace. I pray He will continue to use me to be the light in this place where He put me. To God be the glory! God bless to you both and thank you for coming by and encouraging me.
