But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed... But the Lord was pleased to crush Him, putting Him to grief.”

It is an injustice to Calvary that the true pain of the Cross is often overlooked by a more romantic, but less powerful theme. It is often thought and even preached that the Father looked down from heaven and witnessed the suffering that was heaped upon His Son by the hands of men, and that He counted such affliction as payment for our sins. This is heresy of the worst kind. Christ satisfied divine justice not merely by enduring the affliction of men, but by enduring and dying under the wrath of God. It takes more than crosses, nails, crowns of thorns, and lances, to pay for sin. The believer is saved, not merely because of what men did to Christ on the Cross, but because of what God did to Him - He crushed Him under the full force of His wrath against us. Rarely is this truth made clear enough in the abundance of all our Gospel preaching!Ikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09595879576794400791noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-61790705902516172.post-53020129747971197452010-07-12T14:59:46.944-07:002010-07-12T14:59:46.944-07:00Oh Rosel, that is so sad about that man. No blood = no life. Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." The atoning death of Jesus Christ on that Cross over 2000 years ago was paying the penalty for my and your personal sins. Jesus, who never sinned, literally took our place on that Cross and died, and substituted His perfect righteousness, through His blood, onto each of us, that we may be found (not just forgiven, but) holy and blameless in the sight of God, adopted into the family of God as children and given eternal life in Heaven! Praise God for the blood of Christ!Brian Ray Toddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01242157834688837290noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-61790705902516172.post-79878892258984830772010-07-12T14:11:16.929-07:002010-07-12T14:11:16.929-07:00Amen!
